Reporters

If you've already contributed a story to SNN this year, then we'd like to see you on our "Who's Who" page!

We need a few details about you! You can include: your interests and hobbies, your career goals, your Webpage, awards or accomplishments, or stories you've written for other publications.

Send us a paragraph or two about yourself. If you like, you can add a photo of yourself to go on the page.

Melanie Reader

Hi! My name is Melanie Reader and I live in Pasadena, NF. I am a 16-year-old, Level II student attending Pasadena Academy. My favourite subjects are math and chemistry although I thoroughly enjoy literature and language because I love to write. I also love music. I play clarinet in my school band, euphonium in my church band, and I play the piano as well as teach it.
I also teach Sunday School and am involved in the Guiding movement as a Ranger. What do I want to become? Who knows, but I am thinking of studying medicine or even journalism. As for now, I am volunteering with the Winter Games, writing about the Games for this on-line newspaper, and having lots of fun! Hope you enjoy the articles as much as I did writing them! Read the bio on Michelle Martin. She's my journalism partner!

Elliott
Sheaves

Hi! My name is Elliott Sheaves and I am a Grade Nine student in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. I'm 14 years old and I go to Presenatation Junior High School. I am covering the Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook for SNN and I'm also working at the Games as a volunteer.

Michelle Martin

Hi!!! My name is Michelle Martin and I'm sixteen years old. I live in Pasadena, Newfoundland, and attend Pasadena Academy. There are many things that I like to do in my spare time, including writing newspaper articles and poems. I also enjoy sports which will make my reporting of the Canada Games that much more fun! I especially love skiing and volleyball.

Besides sports and writing, I enjoy things such as Rangers and being a camp counsellor. I love math and physics, and one day, I hope to pursue a career in either engineering or biology. Another obsession of mine is animals. I'm fascinated with marine animals especially. Well, that's me! Read the bio on Melanie Reader. She's my journalism partner!

Jen Wiebe

My name is Jen Wiebe and I am the Editor-in-Chief for SNN for the winter
term. I live in Winkler, Manitoba, and I am 16 years old in grade 11 at
Garden Valley Collegiate. I enjoy a variety of things like waterskiing,
volleyball, baseball and, of course, journalism. I spend my time
working at a gas station, Tempo, as well as teaching a grade two
Sunday School class, serving as vice-president of my school's I.S.C.F.
executive and on my church's youth executive and having a life in between.

Katie Norman

I am a 14-year-old student at I.J. Samson Junior High, in St. John's, Newfoundland. I was born and raised in St.John's. I like to watch Much Music. My favourite band is the Tragically Hip. My favourite TV shows are Party of Five, Dawson's Creek and Beverly Hills 90210. I am involved in Drama at school. I like to swim and shop. I went to Europe last year and it really opened my eyes. The poverty made me realise how good we have it here. When I'm older, I hope to make journalism my career.

Check out Katie's story on child labour.

Crystal Martin

I'm 16 years old. I have written a story for SNN about copying in my school and one about the new school newspaper. I like to read novels and write stories for myself and for my family and friends. I also draw pictures. A story was done on me about this. It was written by Jennifer Crewe. I also write poetry. I have my pictures up in the Art Gallery in my school, Roncalli Central High. In the future I plan to be a journalist or an author. If that doesn't work out, the other thing I would do would be graphic design.

Amber Zirnhelt

I am presently in Grade 11. I live in Williams Lake, British Columbia where I write for the community newspaper, "The Tribune". I have a teen column that is published on a weekly basis and I do extra articles aside from my column and take pictures for the paper. My hobbies include mountain-biking (I race both cross-country and downhill, and I plan to make it to the world's one day), snowboarding, writing, hiking, boxing, running, kayaking, playing guitar and many other things.

Take a look at Amber's story in SNN sports.

Geoffrey Legault

I am a 14-year-old student who attends The Woodlands Senior Public in Mississauga (near Toronto), Ontario. I have been writing stories for SNN for many years now, and writing is still one of the things I love best. I also enjoy swimming, reading, talking, and acting. When not faced with the Homework situation, I also enjoy watching the Seinfeld reruns and the Simpsons. What do I want to be when I grow up? Who knows? I'm open to anything.
