 Profile of a newsmaker

Write profiles of historical figures as if they were being featured in this week's newspaper.

  • For example, find out what you can about Emily Murphy, the woman who led the campaign to have Canadian women legally recognized as "persons" back in 1929. Or look into the life of Joseph-Armand Bombardier, the Quebec man who invented the snowmobile in 1922.

  • Write a story that explains who the person is, where they come from, what they do and why we should remember them.

  • There are many people from Canada's past who would be interesting subjects for a profile.Check out the History Links for ideas.
