Editorial Board October 4, 1999 SNN has a new Editorial Board for 1999-2000, made up of students from across Canada. The group got together over the weekend in Ottawa for a series of journalism workshops, media tours and editorial meetings. On Sunday, they gathered to talk about story ideas and upcoming issues of SNN and decided which ediorial roles they would like to take on.
If you're interested in joining the Editorial Board, it's not too late! We're looking for correspondents from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. Editor January 1999 SNN has a new Editor-in-Chief for the winter term! She's Jen Wiebe, a student at Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler, Manitoba. Jen is joined by two members of last term's editorial board. Kristina Mellway of Canterbury High School in Ottawa is the new Associate Editor and Geoffrey Legault of Woodlands Public School in Mississauga is the Science and Technology Editor. New faces on the board include: Amber Zirnhelt of Columneetza Secondary in Williams Lake, British Columbia, Graham Adams of Banded Peak School in Bragg Creek, Alberta, Shawn Gallimore of James M. Hill High School in Miramichi, New Brunswick, and Chelsea Hellings of Holy Trinity Central High in Norman's Cove, Newfoundland. We're still looking for reporters from Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. The role of the board is simple to be the eyes and ears for SNN in various parts of Canada. We're looking for input and ideas, stories and photos and suggestions on how to make SNN more interesting to young readers. The editorial board keeps in touch with one another through e-mail but we're trying out some other possibilities like holding meetings online!
