Bullying
By Brittany, Grade 11, Crescent Collegiate, Blaketown , NF

Its pathetic! One person bullying another person is showing how immature and insecure people can be. Picking on someone that you think is inferior to you is just plain stupid. You might think that you look big, tough and cool . . . but you don't! Personally, I think it just shows how much you have to hide yourself. Find something productive to do instead of picking on people to get attention.

TOP TEN REASONS WHY PEOPLE GET PICKED ON:

10. Other people's opinions of them
  9. The crowd they hang with
  8. The clothes they wear
  7. The way they wear their hair
  6. The clubs/organizations they're in
  5. Their so-called "STATUS" ex. nerd, prep, jock
  4. Their background and/or family
  3. Their reputation
  2. Past life incidents
  1. People are jealous of them!!

The way it is today in high school, if you as much as wear an orange shirt when everyone else is wearing blue, you get picked on. If you dare to stand out, you're putting yourself up for hell. It isn't one bit fair but that's the way it is. The people that bully other people don't realize that it can affect them for a long time especially if they keep it up. It can lead to anything; depression, anorexia or even suicide (if it gets that bad).

Some people are just too self-absorbed and selfish to think about the other person when they're putting them down or beating them up. Most bullying, I think, is caused by peer pressure and there will never be a way to stop it, you just have to try to avoid it.

But, the next time you think about insulting someone or getting into a fight, stop and think about how it could affect them . . . or YOU!
