Fowl supper a success

Cabri High School
Cabri, Saskatchewan

By Michelle, Honni and Darla (Grade 11)

On September 27, 1996, the Cabri High School held their annual fowl supper. It was a success as usual. This year's fowl supper was organised by three grade 11 students, Darla, Michelle, and Honni. The staff co-ordinators were Mrs. Arlene Peltier, Mrs Cheryl Turner, and Mrs. Jeanette Eckert. They had a lot of help from the grade seven class who washed dishes, and the grade tens who cleared tables. Thanks to them things ran smoothly and quickly.

The fowl supper is one of Cabri's biggest fund raisers, all the profits go to the S.R.C.(Student Representative Council).

This year's supper was served at the Cabri Community Hall. The meal consisted of turkey with gravy and dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberries, peas and carrots, coleslaw, jelly salads, buns, pickles, and for dessert, carrot cake and brownies. This wonderful meal was graciously prepared by the parents of the high school students.

The fowl supper began when our town was first founded and the Cabri High School took over this tradition many, many years ago. In the beginning the fowl suppers were held monthly. Over time this gradually turned into an annual event held during Cabri Days.
