RHS Spook Trail a tremendous success

Roncalli Central High
Port Saunders, Newfoundland

By Jill C. (Grade 11)

On Thursday, October 30th, 1997, the Roncalli High School student council held its third annual "Spook Trail" in Port Saunders, Newfoundland. An estimated 300 people entered the doors of the ghastly trail during the two and a half hours it was open .

Visitors to the Spook Trail, encountered Freddie Kruger, the moving eyes of the Mona Lisa, Dracula, various horrid corpses and much more.

"It (the trail) was a tremendous success, but the biggest task now is to keep improving, however, I think that the students of Roncalli are up to the challenge!" stated Mr. Glenn MacArthur, teacher and supervisor of the student council. The 1997 version of the spook trail earned the school approximately $400.

Although the student council spent much time and work on the development of the trail, it was not a solo effort. Along with the 24 student council members, other students and teachers helped in the preparation and the actual production of the spook trail.

As a part of the spook trail, I, like many of the student council members, saw the reactions of the visitors and overall, the comments were positive. Many visitors commented on how they are looking forward to the new and improved Spook Trail, 1998.
