With only two league games left in the regular season, the Garden Valley Collegiate hockey team may not make it to the provincials. The team is currently in second place in their division and in the middle of their league.

Five players from the Zodiac team were chosen to participate in the All-Star game held in Portage, on February 8. That was the highlight of the season for senior Tim F., who plays forward on the team. "It's a great experience where you meet a lot of guys and have a lot of fun," Tim says.

Along with Tim, the other Zodiac members playing in the All-Star game were Brendan N., Kevin G., Jeremy B., and Jeff S.

The Zodiacs played in two 12-team tournaments throughout the year and won both of them. In the regular season, they played a number of teams, including Altona, M.C.I., Gretna, Pembina, Pine Creek, Portage, Carman, and Morden. Zodiac players report that their toughest competitors are the Morden and Carman teams.

With about half of the team members graduating this year, there will be considerable room for rookies in the next season.

"Hopefully we can win Zones this year and have next year's team do the same," comments Tim F.
