GVC Choirs Perform at Local Festival
The Garden Valley Intermediate and Senior choirs will be performing at the Festival of Arts in the Bergthaler Church on March 12. Within these two choirs, there is also a Female and Male choir which will be performing. The director of all of these choirs is Ms. Loretta Thorleifson, music teacher at G.V.C.
The choirs will not be competing against other choirs at their level but are entered in their own class, and are trying for the overall highest mark of the Festival.
The Intermediate choir meets at G.V.C. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. The Senior choir meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. The members also use lunch hour practices, when needed, to prepare for the Festival as well.
Each choir is performing two songs. The Senior choir will be singing "Loch Lomond" and "Cantata Domino", and the Intermediate choir is singing "Sancutes" and "Day Dream Believer".
Ms. Thorleifson says that the choirs are getting better, but won't get all of the details to the songs. She also thinks they will do really well. The choirs go to the Festival because it gives them goals to reach and a chance to perform. They also get a valuable feedback on their performances.
