Kurt Cobain
Kurt was born Kurt Donald Cobain on February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Wash. His parents divorced when he was eight years old. When Kurt was 14, he got a choice between a new bike and a new guitar and amp; he chose the guitar and amp. Kurt dropped out of high school just weeks before graduating. Kurt Cobain and his band (Chris Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard) went through different names like: Ted Ed Fred, Pen Cap Chew, Windowpane and Skid Row. The band got their first gig in the spring of '87 at a party, as Nirvana, but almost got beat up for drinking all of the host's beer. In 1988, Burckhard was fired from the band, and his replacement was Dave Foster. He only lasted a few months so Burckhard came back but got booted again for getting Kurt's car impounded. This time, he was replaced by Chad Channing. In October 1988, a limited edition of 1,000 copies of the "Love Buzz" / "Big Cheese" single was released. October 30, 1988, Kurt Cobain smashed his first guitar at a Halloween dorm party. In June 1989, Nirvana's first album "Bleach" was released and it only cost $606.17, paid for by Jason Everman who joined the band later as second guitarist but got booted out after a U.S. month-long tour. In May of 1990, Chad Channing got booted from Nirvana. On Sept 25, 1990, Dave Grohl joined Nirvana as drummer. September 24, 1991, Nirvana released "Nevermind" that would later go on to sell over 10,000,000 copies. On October 29, 1991 Nevermind went gold. November 1991, Nevermind went platinum. Feb 1, 1992, Nevermind went No.1 on the "Billboard" charts for the second time. On February 24, 1992, Kurt Cobain married Hole's lead singer Courtney Love, in Hawaii. August 18, 1992, Frances Bean Cobain was born. Dec 15, 1992, "Incesticide" was released. September 21, 1993, "In Utero" was released. March 6, 1994, Kurt fell into a coma after swallowing a reported 50 doses of rohypnol, (pronounced row-hip-nole, it is a tranqulizer drug like Vallium only more powerful). He woke up 20 hours later and began to complain about the food. March 18, 1994, Courtney Love called the police because Kurt locked himself in a room with a shotgun and threatened to kill himself. March 31, 1994, Cobain checked into rehab. April 1, 1994, after two days in rehab, he escaped. April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain was found dead in a room above his garage by an electrician. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on April 5. He was 27.
