Since September, a group of five French immersion students, Susie H., Eric T., Serina P., Tara R. and David W., have been involved with a very unique exchange project. Each of the students is taking part in the PWC Cooperative Science Program. This is also a joint project with several French immersion students from Holy Heart of Mary High School. As part of this project, they were required to work in an area dealing with marine biology. Some of the students have already completed their work terms, and have enjoyed themselves while learning many new things. Another group of students will begin working at their placements in the next week.

At the end of March, the students will be embarking on an incredible journey to the South of France. They will be meeting with a group of students in Cannes, who are also studying different aspects of marine biology, such as aquaculture. While visiting France, the students will have the opportunity to visit many interesting places - Paris, Cannes, Nice, Grace, Antibes and the oceanography museum in Monaco. In addition, they will be the official guests of the City of Cannes and the City Hotel Association. The most spectacular thing the students will experience is an overnight camping trip on a small, uninhabited island, where they will spend the day scuba-diving and exploring the exuberant marine life.

Meanwhile, as the students anxiously await their trip, they are communicating with the group in France and are busy planning and fundraising. The students are very fortunate to participate in such a program, and it is sure to be the experience of a lifetime.
