A Christmas to Remember

“Mommy, when can I get out of bed?” I asked while I was pounding on the wall at 4:37 in the morning.

Mom came out and told me to go back to bed and she would get me up. But how could I? I was so wound up!

“Mom, I understand that you’re tired and all, but I’m not, so can we just open my gifts?”

“No, we can not. Go back to sleep and I will get you up at around 7 o’clock, o.k?”

She walked out of the room, but how could I get to sleep, I am so wound up!?

I was waiting by my door, only two minutes had passed, It’s only 4:39, how could this be? How can I pass my time?

Believe it or not, I did two hundred and fifty-nine laps around my bed! I was tired, but not enough to go back to sleep. I read a book to myself and in a matter of minutes I was asleep.

When I woke up, you wouldn’t believe what time it was! 6:07! I was ready to scream!

I was pretty sleepy and I sort of wanted to go back to sleep, but I just could not. I read another book, but that did not work for me. I decided to just lie back in bed and go to sleep. I knew it would be hard, but I had to do it. After about half an hour I burst my bubble!

“I wanna come out to open my gifts!” I said loudly.

“No!”, I heard a voice say.

I wanted to open my gifts and that was that! I slowly opened my door, hoping that no one would hear me. I carefully crept out to the living room and looked around, gifts everywhere. I ran to Mom’s room and nearly broke down the door.

“He came, Mom, he came!” I shouted.

“Can we go open our gifts?”

How could she say no? I was dressed in my cutest teddy Christmas pajamas, my hair in ponytails and my cute little Pooh Bear pajama slippers on. But she said "No. I'll get you at seven thirty.”

I ran to my room in a disappointed mood. I lay down and fell asleep. At seven thirty-two I heard a knock at my door.

Let's go open some presents.”

In a flash I was sitting on the floor waiting for everybody.

My Pop passed me the very first gift. I opened it along with every other one I had. Then my Nanny and other Pop came up to our house and gave me another gift.

I love Christmas, it's so fun Christmas Day. It's great to get presents, but let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas.
