Throwing A Wrench Into The American Music Machine

For those of you who were terrified by the last release by these four boys from Elk Grove, California, be prepared for the new one. Training For Utopia's "Throwing A Wrench Into The American Music Machine" is ten tracks of raging Christian hard core California style.

The artwork for the cover and insert are a little more colorful than the previous releases. The insert contains several skull and crossbones symbolizing the death and violence in the world, and perhaps the break up of the band itself.

The CD contains all original music and all but one are brand new releases. Track 8, "Dead Signal 2000", is actually a digital remix of the original "Dead Signal" which appeared on "The Falling Cycle" EP. The lyrics are hard to understand and are a little confusing, but that is expected from TFU. The CD contains an acoustic song in which vocalist Ryan Clark sings instead of his regular screaming. An acoustic song is something that would not be expected form a hard-core band like Training For Utopia but once again they surprise fans with an excellent ballad.

If you buy this CD expecting to hear the same TFU you heard on "Plastic Soul Impalement," you will be very disappointed. But if you want something totally new and different, you will be very pleased. "Throwing A Wrench Into The American Music Machine" is very different from anything that TFU has done before. This CD has more of a metal sound which is different from
the "all over the place" music that we have come to expect from them. They once again have gone out and paved new roads in the ever- changing hard-core scene by combining typical hard-core vocals with a metal-based, industrial digital sound. If you are a hard core fan, go out and buy this CD right now.
