Most Winkler residents do not know who he is, but NHL scouts sure do. He is the number one goal tender in the WHL at the present time. He leads the Calgary Hitmen with an astonishing 1.65 GA. His name is Brent Krahn. If you haven't heard of him, you will soon enough.

Brent has been playing hockey ever since he was a little kid. He was born and raised in Winkler, Manitoba and in September of 1997, he was signed to the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL league. He is living the life that every kid has dreamed about. He has his own agent, spends limited time in school (but is still going to graduate), and does what he loves most--playing hockey. Eventually, he will play in the NHL.

At only 17 years of age, Brent already has accomplished more than is imaginable. He is the youngest goalie in the WHL and scouts check his every game. His closest friend, Carmen Recksiedler says that Brent is very grateful. "He has worked very hard to get to where he is today and he is thankful every moment, not to mention modest."

The next time you watch TV highlights of the WHL, do not be surprised if you hear that name--Brent Krahn.
