A hand in the
darkness

All around me the thick air
Grows heavier,
Resting on the shoulders
Of darkness.
Black rain as dark
As my soul
Constantly falls,
Drowning my will.
I have been wrapped for too long
In a blanket of tears,
Lived in a house where
Venus rarely smiles.
I fear I no longer
Remember the warmth
Of sunshine.
If I should see
Golden light again,
Would I recognize it?
Or would I turn away
From the hand
In the darkness,
Not see a smile
In the noonday sun?
