Volleyball is a sport that many people play, but why do people play volleyball and how do you play it? To find out the answers to these questions, I talked to Anna F., who has played the game for three years on I.J. Samson's volleyball team.

Anna says "I like volleyball because it's fun and good exercise. It's fun not knowing if the ball is going to come toward you or another person. I think people like it because it's not only an indoor sport but an outdoor sport as well. It is sometimes played on the beach and it's not hard to play".

I also asked Anna if anyone can play and she said "Anyone with two arms and two legs can play volleyball. It's not hard to learn how to play, but you just have to keep on your toes". She said "the hardest thing is trying to return the ball and the hardest position is right back because that's the position you serve from and you have to know which is the weakest player on the other side and serve to that person". Anna says her favorite position to play is centre back because most of the balls being served come toward you.

I then asked Anna how you play volleyball. She said, "There are six on a team on either side of the net, and the object of the game is to hit the ball over the net and return it before it touches the ground. You only get three hits per side. Fifteen points win the game, but you only get a point when your team is successful at serving and the other team cannot get it back over the net".

After talking to Anna, I now realize why so many people play and enjoy volleyball.
