My Friend’s Greatest Fear
by Dylan R., Grade 6, St. Anne's Elementary School, Peterborough, ON
My friend has a fear
A fear that’s frightening to hear
He daydreams it in class
While we learned about instruments of brass
If you visit him at night
You can hear him scream in fright
He tried to hide behind a boulder
But his fear came and tapped him on the shoulder
His fear was first seen on the day of his birth
When he looks back it gets worse, and worse, and worse
When his fear makes him twirl
He gets down and begins to hurl
His fear is not an alien or a monster with hundreds of blisters
His fear, believe it or not, are his five older sisters
