ARTS & EXPRESSIONS
Like a Rose
By Kathleen D., Fredericton High, Fredericton, NB
Dancing to an evening breeze
a collage of red & tender lips
of tiny stems and rosey cheeks
crimson love stained on our lips
The sun it feeds us as we grow
of a crisp and golden glow
shining on our fingertips
our hearts begin to show
Suddenly our wave of kisses
is slowly giving gap
as each of us are placed gently
upon a lover's lap
I find myself growing cold
as white stars being to drift
as every essence of our meadow
is gently taking lift
The sun it hides as Jack Frost
robs my lips of scarlet tone
I drown in white sheets and realize
tonight I dance alone.
