What's a Teen's Typical Day?
By Serena J., Grade 12, Auburn High, Halifax, NS

You may think you know, but most adults have no idea what a teen typical day for teens is like.

Is it going to school, coming home, doing homework, then relaxing? Or is it going to school, then going to work straight after?

Some parents may think that all we do is sit on our butts all day, and some parents may even think that our day at school couldn't of been as hard as their day at work, but school can be very stressful. There are many things that make school stressful, such as; homework, teachers, friends, graduation, and after school activities. On top of all the things you have going on at school, you have to come home and do all of your home things. Trying to juggle your school life, home life, and social life, can be kind of rough at times.

Jasmina W. explains what she does after school, "Sometimes I go out with my friends and walk around our neighborhood, but when I get home I always watch TV, while I'm talking on the phone. Jas said she doesn't have a busy schedule. The next question I asked her was, "Do you think that there's so much to do, but so little time to do it?" Her response was that "there really is enough time, because I don't really have a busy schedule."

Mark K. also explains what a typical day after school consists of, "My day goes good after school. I'm on the hockey team, so I have to go to practice, then I go home to do my homework, and when I'm finished with that I get ready for the next day." As far as Mark feels about having enough time to do what he's got to do he says, "Sometimes I think there's so much to do in so little time, but other times I feel as though there is just enough time to finish what I need to finish."

Calista M., the last person I interviewed, said she has step dance class Tuesday through Friday, when she gets home at 4:00 she begins her homework and that's pretty much it. She doesn't feel as though she has a busy schedule, it is just more time consuming. She has to give so much time to everything, and it can be very tiring.

There you have it. Some say they have way to much to handle on their plate, and others just look at it as another day being a teen. Yes some teenagers take on way more than they should, but it shows major responsibility , and if you can do after school, have a job, and still get good grades, then more power to you! If you can only go to school, come home and do you homework, then just do that!

Is a teenagers day, just an ordinary day? Some say yes, some say, it's up to you to decide.
