Gander Collegiate: Our School
By: Mediatech students, Gander Collegiate, Gander, NL

   SEE VIDEO

A strong focus on academics, great sports program, arts, performing arts, great school and community spirit and of course, a fabulous media program. That's what Gander Collegiate offers students in Gander, Newfoundland and surrounding communities. Approximately 440 students attend the school in grades 10-12. Small in comparison to some high schools in Canada and that's just the way we like it.

For those of you who've never heard of Gander, well, Gander is located in the central part of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and has a long history in the aviation industry. During the 9/11 crisis, many stranded passengers made Gander their home and were treated to Newfoundland's 'world famous' hospitality. To learn more about Gander, check out the Town of Gander website.

The video presented in this article was produced by students in Gander Collegiate's Concorde Mediavision Program. This program offers students the opportunity to study television, video and media production and learn valuable skills through instruction as well as hands-on video production experience.

During this school year students produced many video reports including an interview with Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield. Check out our other video reports at http://www.k12.nf.ca/gc/Spotlight2003/index.htm .
